Wine at the Line

Ok, I am officially afraid. I did 5 little miles on Saturday on a gorgeous course with beautiful weather and wine and Bazbeaux pizza at the end. It almost killed me. What is going on with me???? I love running and yet, it doesn't feel good right now and that bothers me. Should I keep trying to run through this or is it my body saying "Hello, knock this off?" I just don't know, it just really scares me right now. It has been a release of sorts for me in the past and it bothers me that I can't get to that magical place where everything goes away.....

Out of the Darkness

I walked again in the Out of the Darkness walk which attempts to raise awareness for suicide prevention. I am amazed at how many people come, more and more every year. It is a healing walk, but sometimes, that I am walking alone, there is a certain feeling of isolation, a time for reflection, when I think about all the things that my father missed. As I watch my daughter walk beside me, I realize didn't see what incredible adults his grandchildren turned out to be. As I take the hand of a friend, who came to walk with me just because, I wonder if he ever had friends like me...and I am so blessed with them, that I always have someone to turn to in my dark moments, the daily hugs... I miss his music, I miss the way he laughed. I miss the way he used to smell like drywall and Brut. I miss him terribly....

Hablo poquito espanol

Senor Breier may very well do me in.... He is a very attractive, pleasant, patient Latino male who happens to be my professor in Spanish 101. He has a little masochist in his soul, however. He tricks you with his smile and the way he appears to be unsure of himself and then BAM, he starts speaking to me in Spanish and my brain shuts down like it just grabbed a big ole bite of a unripe persimmon and I feel like I am back in 3rd grade, being teased about sucking my thumb. (Yeah, true story) Humiliating, but true; kids and sometimes teachers can be cruel. But, I digress.
I am going in to work an hour and a half early so that I can get to the class on time, which so far isn't working well for me. Cut it too close today; I need to work on that. So, almost 14 hours after leaving my house, I am pulling back into the driveway with my brain full and hurting. Why am I doing this, you may ask. Don't have a good answer for that at the moment, can I get back to ya?
I can say there just isn't enough time for all the things that I want/need to do, but in reality, I have all the time that there is. So, what is the problem? It may require some thought and some reasoning, which I am unable to do right at the moment. Stay tuned....
