HORRIBLE HAIR PHILOSOPHY

First, I would like to preface this post by saying I love Kim, who cuts and colors my hair, this is NOT about her. Secondly, this is not my idea, I read it somewhere and it stuck. (not like when I tried to learn to like beer, which I don't, it's more like when I tried to learn to like wine, which I do now....a lot), but as usual, I digress. So a while back, I read this article about how this woman goes to her hairdresser for years and years. She hates her hair cut and often takes in pictures of what she really wants, but the hairdresser continues to give her bad cuts and just doesn't listen to her. The woman doesn't want to leave because she is afraid she will hurt the hairdresser's feeling. One day, she goes in and tells the hair dresser that she needs a special cut and color for her son's wedding. She wants to look really special. When the pictures from the wedding are returned, the woman breaks down in tears because her hair looked so horrible. The first thing she did was find another hairdresser and after the first appointment, she was amazed at good she looked AND felt. (Which is how I always feel when I leave Kim's chair, I feel like a million bucks) Back to the woman, who now cannot believe how long she had gone to the horrible hairdresser just because she didn't want to hurt her feelings. She says that we all have a tendency to do that in our lives, we do things for people only because we don't want to hurt their feelings. Her question then, was, why do we give time to people who make us miserable, or anything but happy? Seriously? I don't know about you, but I don't have enough time to spend with the people I LOVE being with, my kids, my running peeps, my best buddies, my crafts friends, my co-workers, yeah, I like em, or my church pals. I hear everyone saying, "there's just not enough time". So why waste it doing things with people who don't make you feel like your real friends do? AND, here's a news flash for ya, we have all the time there is...you are in charge of it and if you squander it on activities or give it away to people who you don't really want to be with, that's your bad...no one else's. And that is the horrible hair philosophy...brought to you by someone who is sitting here with a bobby pin, pony and headband on.....hmmm. Here's the bonus, guys, friends don't really care what you look like.
